This is a question a lot of people have in their mind. There is no right or wrong answer to this question because it depends on what you would like to achieve. First, we have to understand what is the purpose of your massage? Do you have back pain? Do you have neck pain? Is it for your mental health? Do you want to relax and rejuvenate?
Before we jump into explaining the best type of full body massage, let’s remind ourselves how massage was introduced to western society.
Massage therapy was initially used purely for medical benefits. The first ever written records of massage therapy are found in China and Egypt. Early in the 1800s a massage therapist, doctor, gymnast, and educator called Per Henril developed a method of movement known as the “Swedish Movement System”. This is when massage therapy entered western culture.
Initially massage therapy would only be used for medical purposes, today we use massage therapy for leisure and medical purposes. Considering the long history of massage, its incorporation into Western medicine is only in its infancy. In the past fifty years the public demand for massage therapy has been at an all-time high.
There are many benefits to massage, but we will discuss it in another blog article. Today, let’s see what is the best type of full body massage that is suitable for you.
Before having a massage, you need to consult with a professional, we can’t emphasise this enough, it’s very important that you speak and share with your therapist what exactly it is you need.
If you feel pain or tension in your muscles, or you have minor injuries, here at Siam Body & Soul we can provide you with a deep tissue massage, as well as Thai Massage or a combination of both. A combination of both might be most suitable for you if you feel pain.
If you have swollen legs, we recommend that you have a lymphatic drainage massage.
Some of our customers have an active lifestyle, by active lifestyle we mean they run, they work out, and they just love the feeling when endorphins kick in, you know the feeling when you do a great work out and your body feels great. For this type of client, we recommend having a sports massage.
If somebody just wants to relax and destress, you know, have a calm mind and a calm body; To feel like they are in the mountains enjoying a hot cuppa and nothing can bother them, then for this type of feeling we highly recommend a relaxing, aromatherapy or hot stone massage.
Let’s say you want a full body massage, right? A full-body massage includes your arms, legs, hands, feet, neck, back, stomach, and buttocks. We work on the back of the legs, front of the legs, and if you want, also a full head massage. If there are any parts of your body that you don’t want to be touched, you can let us know so you always feel comfortable. All our therapists will make sure that you are comfortable, and enjoy your session.
We highly recommend a 90-minute full body massage as we will have more time to work on all areas of your body, but if time is an issue, we can do a great professional 60 minute massage.
If you have an area that needs more attention, such as a sore back or tight shoulders, you can let the therapist spend more time focused on those trouble spots, but the trade-off may be less time spent on other areas of the body.[does this seem a bit negative? Do you need to mention a trade off?]
